When the laboratory receives a specimen bottle that is unlabeled, ambiguous, or improperly labeled, it will be returned to the submitting physician’s office for correction. The laboratory maintains a record of all returned cases.
Specimens must be protected from extremes of temperature. Room temperature is best. Prevention from freezing is vital as freezing can result in cellular artifacts that make an accurate diagnosis difficult or impossible. We provide a lock box for after practice office hours. Lobby areas are a good location for these boxes. They should never be placed outside. Our couriers will assist in arranging a designated pick-up location.
